Guangdong People's Publishing House's First High-Quality Mini Series Yan Zhu Qiang Premieres

Recently, Yan Zhu Qiang, the first high-quality mini series produced by Guangdong People's Publishing House, was exclusively launched on Hongguo. Within just one hour of its release, the mini series accumulated over 3.5 million popularity index on Hongguo and climbed to the trending list on Douyin. The series is adapted from the highly popular novel Deng Yun Tian (Climbing to the Clouds) on Tomato Novel. With its core plot revolving around ancient palace intrigue, it tells the dramatic story of the servant Nan Jin, who sneaks into the imperial palace in search of an opportunity to seek justice for his parents and change his destiny. It features a compact storyline and intense conflicts.

The highlight of the series is its meticulous recreation and innovative expression of Song Dynasty aesthetics. The costumes follow the restrained and elegant style of the Song Dynasty, with a refined color palette; makeup incorporates elements like flower decorations and beautifully shaped sideburns, allowing one to "understand the character through their appearance." The settings recreate the architectural style of Song Dynasty palaces and residences, enhancing immersion and artistic expression through techniques such as light gauze curtains, layered lighting, and simulated snowfall and rainfall.

As a groundbreaking work in the traditional publishing industry's crossover into short dramas, Yan Zhu Qiang is produced by Guangdong People's Publishing House and co-produced with Tomato Novel. The team adhered to the "quality-first" principle throughout the entire production process. This crossover marks an important attempt by the publishing house to respond to the media convergence trend. By establishing a new business division to integrate resources, the publishing house aims to extend the value of traditional publishing content from "reading on paper" to "viewing on screen," providing a practical example for the industry to explore new paths for high-quality development.

A Healing Breeze Sweeps Through Mini Series Storytelling

The mini series Fang Yang Ba Lao Ban, a key project under the "Beijing Audiovisual · First Light Initiative" support program and the "Beijing Audiovisual · Youthful China Dream" online content selection, has recently premiered on the Hongguo short drama platform. Blending cultural tourism with narrative storytelling, the series follows an urban professional who journeys to the grasslands in search of inner peace, offering a fresh exploration of the "culture-and-tourism + healing" genre and demonstrating the growing appeal of this thematic approach in mini series creation.

Positioned as a flagship scenic culture-and-tourism mini series, Fang Yang Ba Lao Ban integrates elements of Mongolian traditional culture—including traditional attire, cuisine, horseback riding, archery, and song and dance—into its narrative through the format of "mini series + cultural tourism." The production keenly captures young people's growing fatigue with urban pressure and their collective longing for the sense of ease and freedom symbolized by the grasslands. By foregrounding "anti-anxiety" as its core emotional value, the series seeks to respond to contemporary psychological needs.

Within its genre framework, the series incorporates social reflection and humanistic concern, probing what true success and happiness mean in an era marked by material abundance but widespread spiritual anxiety. The "healing" trend in audiovisual creation emerged from broader social emotions and first flourished in long-form productions; today, it has found a new mode of expression through mini series, enabling the format to carry more universal emotional resonance and spiritual comfort. At the same time, high-quality short dramas that combine "healing+cultural tourism" or "healing+local culture" are opening new pathways for differentiation and value enhancement in the evolving mini series landscape.

High-Quality Mini Series Creation Sharing Forum and Launch Ceremony of Mini Series "Fa" Jia Zhi Fu Held in Beijing

On December 27, the High-Quality Mini Series Creation Sharing Forum and the launch ceremony of the mini series "Fa" Jia Zhi Fu were held in Beijing. The event was jointly organized by China Radio, Film & Television Press, Beijing Film Academy, and China Search, aiming to bring together industry expertise to explore pathways for mini series to evolve from "traffic-driven hits" to works that reflect the spirit of the times, and to promote the healthy and high-quality development of the online audiovisual content ecosystem.

As a key outcome of the event, the realistic-themed mini series "Fa" Jia Zhi Fu was officially announced for production. Adapted from the original stage play Xiang Yang Li Fa Guan by the Beijing Film Academy, the series is set in Beijing's traditional Hutong neighborhoods. It tells the story of the ideological conflicts and emotional reconciliation between an elderly barber and his young son amid social transformation.

Focusing on the central theme of "craft inheritance," the series explores essential questions such as "who should inherit cultural traditions" and "how such inheritance should take place." Through vivid storytelling, it portrays ordinary people's steadfast commitment to traditional skills, moral integrity, and personal dignity, illustrating how socialist core values take root and find expression in everyday life.

A three-tier organizational structure has been established to support governance and decision-making. At the ceremony, the alliance also signed strategic cooperation agreements with several enterprises, covering areas such as the development of "mini series + regional branding," the joint construction of incubation bases, and the establishment of standardized filming location libraries—further strengthening the foundations of the local industry ecosystem. Inner Mongolia Launches Sports-Themed Mini Series Creation Initiative

Recently, the Bureau of Sports of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region launched the "Follow the Mini Series to Exercise" creation initiative. The goal is to further stimulate societal engagement in the creation of mini series themed around Inner Mongolia's sports, deepen the integration of mini series with the sports field, and promote the fusion of national fitness and public health. The "Follow the Mini Series to Exercise" creation initiative includes themes such as "Follow the Mini Series for Outdoor Activities," "Follow the Mini Series for Sports Events," "Follow the Mini Series for Ice and Snow Sports," "Follow the Mini Series for Cultural Exploration," "Follow the Mini Series to Learn Fitness," "Follow the Mini Series for Venue Tours," and "Follow the Mini Series for 'Sports+'." It is reported that sports and broadcasting administrative departments in various leagues and cities will strengthen coordination, mobilize all parties involved, and ensure the effective implementation of all tasks. Efforts will include organizing and motivating creative teams to visit training bases, sports venues, and event sites for research, uncovering athletes' perseverance stories, ethnic sports culture, and typical cases of national fitness. Experts will provide support in areas such as professional sports guidance, event resources, and content authenticity verification.
